About a month ago, Living Green Barrie was approached by Ian Miller, owner-operator of Barrie’s Endeavour Tattoos and Piercings. Miller, having grown up in Barrie, has witnessed development and changes in the city over the years. Miller has concerns about Barrie’s environment, and wants to see it kept clean and green. He also voiced his concern about how the tattoo industry produces a lot of plastic waste. Miller wants to give back, and keep it local! Chatting with Miller made it evident that he is passionate about waste reduction in Barrie, as well as taking part in tree plantings to help Barrie be more resilient to climate change. So, a partnership was formed.
On Saturday, July 13th from 11:00 am- 9:00 pm, Endeavour Tattoos and Piercings (34 Essa Rd., Barrie) is hosting the Love Earth Tattoo Event. With all artists on deck, a minimum of $30 nature tattoos are available to anyone looking to get a tattoo. All proceeds from the day’s event are going to help fund Living Green Barrie’s Tree Planting program. Living Green Barrie is inviting all participants and their families to participate in our fall tree planting event (specific date to-be-determined). This event will also be open to all residents of Barrie and the surrounding area, inked or not!
Living Green Barrie’s Project Director, Andee, was inspired to start a special fundraiser of her own! Andee has always been on the fence about getting a tattoo, as she did not want to regret that decision in the future. She has put it out to friends, family, and all our supporters that if she raises over a certain amount of money, she will get a tattoo. Here are the specifics:
- $200-Andee gets a tattoo
- $415-Current total
- $1000-Andee gets a “larger-than-she-is-comfortable-with” tattoo
- $5000-Andee’s tattoo will include the words, “No Regerts”, with the spelling error, as a tribute to not “regerting” her decision!
