TREASURER
Use your Financial Skills to Help Address Climate Change
(Volunteer, Board of Directors)
Living Green Barrie is looking for someone who is passionate about the environment to bring their financial skills to the position of volunteer Treasurer of the organization. Living Green is a 33 year-old registered environmental charity whose mission is to inspire people to make responsible environmental choices. Through our Ten Actions for Climate (including planting 10,000 trees for Barrie, powering down, buying less stuff, treading lightly, engaging in action, eating more plants, investing in green), we help ordinary people make significant changes in their lives–changes that address climate change.
The board meets monthly for 1 ½ hours and has several work groups that move Living Green’s programs forward and report to the board regularly. Two skilled and dedicated staff provide leadership to implement these programs (www.livinggreenbarrie.ca).
TREASURER RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists Executive Director to create annual budgets
Helps with payroll and banking
Supports development of financial processes and procedures including organizational templated using Quickbooks
Reviews and presents monthly financial statements to Living Green Board of Directors
Liaises with Canada Revenue Agency
Prepares and submits semi-annual HST remittances
Supports bookkeeper with T4A and Charity Returns preparation
Time required for the above tasks plus monthly board meetings is estimated at 5-6 hours/month.

Bingo is Back and We Need You!
Did you know that Living Green Barrie receives funding to help run our programs by participating in Delta Bingo & Gaming Barrie’s Charitable Gaming Partnership?
We are looking for responsible volunteers to fill our bingo shifts from 8pm-10pm every other Wednesday . All volunteers for this position must be age 18+.

TREE PLANTING
Living Green Barrie, with the help of the City of Barrie, Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) and our generous sponsors and volunteers plant native trees and shrubs to increase Barrie’s forest canopy. Our goal is to plant 10,000 trees for Barrie and so far we have planted 5147 trees!
Tree planting is done in the spring and fall while the trees are “sleeping” to ensure a better chance of successful long term survival. The 2023 planting season has concluded and we are half way to our goal!
Check back in the spring for opportunities to support this important initiative, have fun and plant a tree!
