Perhaps you have been noticing the occurrence of more extreme weather events, not just in the summer months, but all year round. Floods, forest fires, and drought, to name a few. Although industry plays a huge role in the rise of global temperatures, we believe that us, as individuals can still make a big difference. If we start demanding change, and making small changes in our lives, every one of those actions counts towards mitigating the effects of climate change.

This June, the ChangeChallenge is to implement small actions in your life to help combat climate change in your own backyard.

Maybe your action is writing a letter to your local government about changes you want to see in your city, and why. Maybe your action will be to bike to work one day a week, or take the bus? Or, maybe your action is to plant a tree in your backyard. Whatever it may be, we want to hear about it, because every step forward is a step in the right direction. Comment below with your climate change actions and let’s make change happen in our own city!

If you would like to learn more on the topic of climate change, come out to Living Green Barrie’s June GreenScreen to see the visually stunning documentary, Metamorphosis. Admission is $5 cash at the door, or tickets are available to purchase on Eventbrite. For more info, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/365962340945114/.
