Reconnect with Nature

Winter in Barrie can be cold and snowy. This should not mean that you hibernate inside! At Living Green Barrie, we focus on projects that help the environment, and what better way to learn about the environment surrounding us, then by immersing yourself in it. This idea corresponds with our February theme, “Reconnecting with Nature”.  This brings us to the February Change Challenge: A Reconnect with Nature Checklist. We have created this list of activities to help get you and your family outdoors this February, and to reconnect with nature. Developing a deeper connection to the environment around you can lead to a greater respect for nature and a better understanding of issues threatening the environment. We challenge you to tackle as many of these activities off the list as possible! Do you have an activity to add? Send us an email at info@livinggreen.info.

Outdoor Winter Safety

When venturing outdoors, make safety a priority. Plan ahead, check the weather forecast, dress for the weather, hydrate, adventure with a nature buddy, bring your phone, use extreme caution near bodies of water, and remember to use appropriate safety equipment such as helmets, for various winter activities. These are just a few safety tips to remember when enjoying time outdoors.
