This month, Living Green Barrie is excited to launch our newly revised mission statement!
Mission:
Guiding citizens, businesses and local leaders towards actions that foster sustainability and resilience in our community.
The Film:
The environmental documentary for the August GreenScreen just happens to align very well with our mission. The film for August is Living the Change, directed by Jordan Osmond and Antoinette Wilson. The film examines individuals and local groups in New Zealand who are going against the grain of society, tackling environmental and social issues in unique ways. It will inspire you to know that small changes at the local level can make a difference, and that is what Living Green Barrie is on a mission to do for our city and surrounding area!
Robert Guyton: “There’s a lot of things that could depress you out in the world. But if you take each negative act as almost like an opportunity, or a provocation, to do your thing, which is the opposite of that – you know, give more life – then it’s fun, then it’s a winnable game.”
Directors Jordan Osmond and Antoinette Wilson have brought together stories from their travels around New Zealand, along with interviews with experts able to explain how we come to be where we are today. From forest gardens to composting toilets, community supported agriculture to timebanking, Living the Change offers ways we can rethink our approach to how we live.
Each and every one of us has the power to create change. Living the Change sets out to inspire us to do just that. There are so many exciting and important ideas and initiatives out there, so much hope and inspiration. This film aims to generate discussion as widely and deeply as possible about how each of us views the future and our part in it.
