Judith has devoted her career to the not-for-profit sector with a primary focus on animal welfare. With a Zoology degree from the University of Guelph, she worked as a Wildlife Rehabilitator in BC before spending 17 years with the Ontario SPCA. After retiring from her Senior Management position in 2020, she has devoted her time to her two busy teenage girls and husband, while taking on new endeavours such as transitioning her gardens to native plants which support pollinators, fostering kittens, baking, sewing, hiking and training the family’s miniature horse (or at least trying to!).
Judith’s passion for the environment began at a young age and has played a significant role in every stage of her life. Always finding new ways to live more sustainably, she currently focuses on further reducing waste in the household, repairing and upcycling clothing, and creating reusable gift wrapping (furoshiki) and decorations. Joining the Living Green board and becoming part of the local environmental community is her latest step in advocating for a greener, more sustainable future for her family, and for Barrie.
