Members of Firebird Community Cycle also contribute their expertise on the City of Barrie Active Transportation Committee, helping improve safety and accessibility for all cyclists in the city.
Community Impact
The board and volunteers at Firebird Community Cycle are essential to the success of our joint efforts. Their knowledge, dedication, and energy make the Bicycle Poker Ride—and many other initiatives—possible. Through this partnership, we inspire more residents to explore active transportation, build community connections, and take meaningful steps toward a sustainable future.
Pollinate Barrie is a community-led, volunteer-driven organization in Barrie, Ontario, dedicated to creating and sustaining native pollinator habitats. Founded in 2022, the group works with residents, schools, and municipalities to restore local ecosystems using native plants that support insects like the endangered monarch butterfly and various bee species.
Collaboration
Pollinate Barrie is an official partner of Living Green Barrie, and we are thrilled to work alongside them. Our partnership is built on a shared commitment to education, environmental stewardship, and community access to native plants. We collaborate whenever possible, sharing information, resources, and opportunities to reach the community.
Each year, Pollinate Barrie sets up at our tree and shrub nursery to provide low-cost native pollinator plants through their pay-what-you-can philosophy. They also supply plants for our Trees for Bees pods and regularly invite Living Green to present whenever there’s an opportunity to engage the community.
