SUMMARY:Pollinate Barrie Native Plant & Living Green Native Tree/Shrub Sale
DESCRIPTION:Join Living Green Barrie and Pollinate Barrie for our annual Native Plant\, Tree\, and Shrub Sale! \nPollinate Barrie has spent the winter sowing and nurturing a diverse selection of native plant species. This year’s sale will once again feature a pay-what-you-can model\, helping make native gardening more accessible to our community. \nLiving Green Barrie will also be opening our nursery\, featuring a thoughtfully curated selection of native trees and shrubs suited to our local climate. \nWhether you’re planting in a yard\, balcony\, schoolyard\, or community space\, it’s not too late to add meaningful greenery that supports biodiversity\, strengthens our urban canopy\, and creates habitat for pollinators and wildlife. Our online store will also be open for convenient browsing and pre-orders. \nNative plants play a vital role in restoring and maintaining healthy ecosystems. Because they are adapted to local growing conditions\, they are generally more resilient\, require fewer inputs\, and provide essential food and habitat for pollinators\, birds\, and other wildlife. \nThis event is more than a fundraiser—it’s an opportunity to learn\, connect\, and take action. Along with plants\, attendees can access practical information and resources to help create healthier gardens and greener communities. Proceeds from the sale directly support local environmental initiatives and community programming. \nPayment options include cash\, e-transfer\, or credit card through our online store.

SUMMARY:Repair Cafe July18 2026
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a broken item at home that needs a repair? Bring it to the Repair Café and learn how to repair it alongside our Fixers! \n\nDATE: Sat. July 18\, 2026\,\nTIME: 10am–1pm\nLOCATION: BPL Downtown Branch\n\nRegistration Opens Spring 2026\n\n\n\n\n\n\n What’s a Repair Café?  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt the Repair Café\, one of our handy volunteers will help you fix your broken item. The main goal of the Repair Café is to facilitate community collaboration and to kindle people’s enthusiasm for a sustainable society. Learn a new skill\, save money\, and help the environment. Don’t replace it\, repair it! \nVisit the official BPL RepairCafé.org webpage. \n\nRegistration: Opens Spring 2026\nThe Repair Café runs from 10am-1pm. Register for one of the two available registration windows: 10-11:30 or 11:30-1. \nClick HERE Link to register coming spring 2026 to register for the first window\, 10:00-11:30. \nIf you prefer to register for the second window 11:30-1:00 Click HERE Link to register coming spring 2026 \n\nGood to know:\n\nA volunteer fixer will help you fix your item sometime during the registration window. While you wait\, watch other repairs and learn something new\, chat with community members who are interested in fixing and sustainability\, watch a demo\, or browse our book table and find your next read.\nFixers are volunteers. Repairs are not guaranteed\, but Fixers do their best. If you know your repair requires parts\, please bring those parts. Fixers have all the basic tools.\nWhat can be fixed? This depends on the skill set of our volunteers. Our current volunteer Fixers are great with electrical (lamps\, wiring\, etc.) We do not fix electronics (cell phones\, laptops\, etc.). Tell us a bit about your item when you register\, we will follow up with you if we need more information or to suggest any parts you might need to bring.\nThis is a learning opportunity for all involved. This is not a drop-off event. We encourage visitors to sit with the Fixer\, learn about what they’re doing\, and lend a hand. It’s about figuring it out\, together.\n\nThis program is offered in partnership with Living Green Barrie\, Firebird Community Cycle and BRIX Makerspace. \nARE YOU HANDY?  WE NEED FIXERS! \nRepair Cafés – Volunteer Fixers \nWe partner with the Barrie Public Library and other community organizations to host Repair Cafés and we’re always looking for volunteer fixers. \nFixers are people who enjoy troubleshooting and repairing household items\, helping others learn basic repair and who want to reduce waste and promote reuse. \nItems often include basic electrical (lamps\, wiring\, etc. small appliances (e.g. toasters)\, clothing\, and bikes\, general repairs. \nThe focus is on sharing skills and empowering visitors\, not just fixing things for them. \nWe do not fix electronics (cell phones\, laptops\, etc.)
